Mob Violence Against Blind Pastor Balu Saste in Madhya Pradesh

May 13, 2019

In January 2016, Pastor Balu Saste, his wife, son, and eleven members of his congregation were violently attacked with sticks and rods by a mob of religious extremists in a small village in Madhya Pradesh.

Pastor Balu Saste and his wife are visually impaired and live on a meager grant of Rs. 500/- per month provided by their village for differently abled residents.

The mob dragged the Christians to the police station where they were arrested, stripped of their clothes, beaten and detained for three days.

They were accused of attempting to convert people to Christianity by offering money and the hope of a better life through faith in Christ.

Mob attacks against Christians and other religious minorities are on the rise across India.
