A group of ten Christians ministering in Karnataka distributed gospel tracts early in the morning at Garag village in Dharwad, Karnataka. As they were about to leave at 8:30 a.m., three Hindutva extremists approached them on a motorbike, hurled abuses at them and assaulted them for causing religious conversions.
Soon, a group of 20 extremists arrived at the spot and assaulted the victims. One of them sustained serious injuries. The injured Christians were then taken to a nearby hospital and others were taken to the Garag police station. The victims filed a written complaint and an FIR was registered against the assailants. It was also found that a counter complaint was filed against the Christians under sections 295A, 147, 143,149 of the IPC.
