Christians assaulted by mob of religious extremists in M.P.; Police books pastor under MPFOR Ordinance, 2020

On 7th February 2021, a mob of religious extremists forcefully into a church situated in Alirajpur, Madhya Pradesh. Around 25 people had gathered there for prayers as it was a Sunday. The mob of religious extremists threatened and physically assaulted the men and women gathered in the church. Thereafter, the assailants informed the local police at the Udaygarh police station alleging that people were converting their religion based on allurement. The police detained all 25 people gathered there for prayers and interrogated them and eventually registered an FIR against the pastor under sections 3 and 5 of the Madhya Pradesh Freedom of Religion Ordinance, 2020. The pastor was then sent to jail.
