On 5th May 2019, Christians were asked to remove the banner for convention and falsely accused of breaking the temple idols at Karipatti, Valapadi Taluk of Salem District of Tamil Nadu. Christians had sought permission to conduct the convention for four days but the concerned authority gave permission only for a single day. Around 2000 Christians attended the convention.

The villagers caused hindrances to people wishing to attend the convention and falsely accused the Christians of breaking their temple’s idols. The police despite the permission, asked the organisers to remove the banner promoting the convention. The police summoned the pastor and members of hindutva extremists for a peace talk, the next day. Matter was resolved and convention was successfully held for 4 days.
