Mob disrupts prayer services, threatens the pastor and falsely complains to the police about Christians in Tamil Nadu

On 14.07.2019, when around 50 believers had gathered at a pastor’s house situated at Veerappanur, Velanthavalam in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu for a prayer meeting, a mob of 70 Hindu Munnani functionaries came to the church, disrupted the prayer services and asked the pastor to stop the prayer services. The mob also complained to the police. It was known from reliable sources that one particular influential person in the village has been opposing the prayer services. The police asked the Christians to either reach a compromise with the opposite party or to obtain permission from the Sub-Divisional Magistrate to continue with the prayer services.
