On 28th January 2017, the police stopped a Christian convention and arrested two evangelists in Pinahat block of Agra district, Uttar Pradesh.

The Hindutva activists reported to the District Superintendent of Police (DSP) that “conversion” is taking place at the convention.

The DSP along with police staff reached the location and arrested the two evangelists on the basis of ‘disrupting peace’.

Later, on speaking to the media, the DSP said, “no proof of forceful conversion was found.” In spite of this statement, the evangelists were sent to jail and later released on bail.
